About Us

Carton Council of Canada (CCC) is a coalition of carton manufacturers working together to deliver long-term solutions to help increase carton recovery and recycling in Canada.

Who We Are

At CCC, we are proud that carton packaging has amongst the lowest environmental impact within the packaging industry; however, we seek to reduce this impact further.

In 2019, CCC members agreed to adopt a 70 per cent carton recycling target by 2025.

Achieving this goal means continuing to work closely with all members of the recycling value chain including sorting facilities, municipalities, waste management companies and other stakeholders.

How we came to be

CCC was established in 2010. Through the Carton Council of Canada, carton manufacturers Elopak, Evergreen Packaging, Tetra Pak and SIG Combibloc seek to further reduce the environmental impact of their products. CCC replicates similar associative models that have been put in place, including the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) in Europe, and the Carton Council of North America.

What We Do

Carton Council of Canada provides a platform for carton manufacturers in Canada to benchmark and profile cartons as renewable, recyclable and low-carbon packaging solutions.

CCC helps increase carton recovery and recycling in Canada by:

  • Financing and producing carton-recycling awareness campaigns
  • Providing consulting services to optimize sorting processes
  • Financing pilot projects
  • Finding buyers for carton bales

Carton Council of Canada members work together to demonstrate that carton packaging is the smart green choice today and in the future.
